Cruelty Free Clothing: The Most Stylish Vegan Clothing Brands For Men
‘Stylish’ and ‘vegan’ are two words seldom spotted mingling in the same sentence. Minds tend to wander to images of tie-dye T-shirts, hopsack and sandals when vegan fashion is brought up, but not all ethical clothing has to look like it came from a stall at Glastonbury. There’s no reason your wardrobe can’t be cool, contemporary and cruelty free – the key is knowing the best vegan brands to buy from.
Veganism is a rapidly growing movement that’s gathering pace as more and more people get clued up on animal cruelty and the harmful impact the meat industry has on the environment. As a result, there’s an increasing number of brands out there dedicated to providing good-looking garments that are stylish, well put together and made without the use of animal products.
Finding brands that are actually vegan is tricky. Many get lumped in with ‘sustainable’ brands that aren’t necessarily animal free, and for a lot of ethical labels, whether a product is vegan or not seems to be a bit of an afterthought.
To save you the hassle of searching yourself, we’ve created a list of some of our favourite stylish vegan clothing brands for men. These are labels making garments that we’d be happy to work into our own wardrobes, and they’re doing it without using animal products in the process.
Why Buy Vegan Clothing?
Buying and wearing vegan clothing has lots of benefits. Some of them are obvious, others not so much. Here are a few positives that make buying from vegan brands a good idea whether you’re an animal lover and eco warrior or not.
Cruelty free
Perhaps most obviously, vegan clothing doesn’t include animal products, which means it is completely cruelty free.
By shopping with vegan brands, you avoid supporting labels that exploit animals for their fur, skin, wool or whatever it may be.
Environmental impact
Raising animals requires huge amounts of resources like water, land and food. This contributes to deforestation, water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Vegan clothing generally has a lower environmental impact because it doesn’t rely on animal products or byproducts.
Fewer harmful chemicals
Animal-based materials often undergo extensive chemical treatments that can be harmful to both the environment and to the people that work with them or live nearby.
Vegan clothing is produced with far fewer chemicals, which makes it the more environmentally and ethically sound choice.
Supporting the industry
Buying vegan clothing helps to support the industry and contribute to its growth, which is ultimately good news for the plants and the animals that live on it.
When your friend asks where you got that shirt from you can tell them with pride, and they might even go and pick one up for themselves.
The Most Stylish Vegan Clothing Brands For Men
Wawwa
In its founders’ own words, Wawwa is all about putting people and the planet before profits. It’s not a business strategy that’s likely to win the Mancunian siblings an investment from Sir Alan Sugar, but it’s the noble way to work.
And they must be doing something right because they’ve won over some of the coolest retailers going. You’ll find the brand’s loose-fitting, earthy garments in the likes of END. and Working Class Heroes, which is perhaps unsurprising given the brand’s obvious streetwear and skateboarding influences.
Rapanui
Rapanui uses renewable energy and natural organic materials to make its range of stylish, sustainable clothing.
The British brand specialises in laid-back, casual garments, and while its founders never expressly set out to make vegan clothing, their eco-friendly approach to manufacture has resulted in the garments being completely animal free by accident.
Pretty much everything here is made using organic cotton, and styles range from graphic tees to loose-fitting shorts.
Saye
Saye is one of the coolest 100 per cent vegan footwear brands we’ve come across. It makes beautifully simple sneakers using environmentally friendly production and plant-based materials, taking inspiration from some popular silhouettes you might recognise.
The best-selling Modelo ‘89 reminds us of an elevated Reebok Club C, but one you can rock free from the guilt of wearing leather.
Will’s Vegan Shoes
Founded by a guy named Will, this company specialises in high-quality vegan shoes. Kind of does what it says on the tin.
The concept is to bring the same quality, attention to detail and craftsmanship found in fine Italian and British shoemaking to vegan footwear, using the finest plant-based materials in place of animal leather.
There’s everything from sneakers to walking boots up for grabs, but where the labels really excels is in formal footwear. It can be notoriously difficult to find good dress shoes as a vegan, but Will’s Vegan Shoes makes it easy.

MUD Jeans
MUD Jeans makes some fantastic denim without using many of the nasty chemicals commonly associated with the fabric’s production.
It also uses fabric patches on the waist instead of the traditional leather ones you’ll find on a pair of Levi’s or Wranglers, meaning its jeans can be fully Peta Vegan approved.
Rains
Hailing from Denmark, Rains is perfectly placed to design durable yet stylish rainwear. The brand specialises in rubber macs, which are designed to completely deflect wet weather in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible, and it does so without using any animal products or byproducts.
Save The Duck
Save The Duck makes cruelty-free insulated jackets. They’re just like down jackets in terms of appearance and performance, but they’re made using a recycled polyester stuffing called Plumtech instead of down.
It traps the heat, packs down small, regains its loft after compression and, unlike down, retains its insulating properties when wet. Most importantly, it’s made without harming any animals, which puts insulated outerwear firmly back on the menu for vegans.
Matt & Nat
Named after ‘materials’ and ‘nature’, not a couple called Matthew and Natalie, this Canadian brand has been making stylish vegan accessories for almost 30 years. It started out as a bag maker but has since evolved into a full-scale apparel brand, offering everything from shoes and sunglasses to outerwear.
The USP is that everything, whether its a wallet or a weekend bag, is completely animal and cruelty free, which is achieved by using high-quality leather alternatives that don’t sacrifice aesthetics or durability.
Dedicated
Sustainably minded Swedish brand Dedicated is committed to offering an environmentally friendly way to dress stylishly. It does so by being highly selective about the materials it works with, opting largely for organic cotton, recycled polyester and hemp.
In the name of full disclosure, Dedicated does also use recycled wool, but the vast majority of its products are completely vegan. The overall vibe is laid back and casual, with designs often featuring playful graphic prints, neutral colours and classic casual silhouettes.
