Festival de Cannes x Chivas 25
Another year and another Cannes Film Festival has passed. The annual festival, located on the immaculate Cote d’Azur, is one where the crowds come to enjoy the glamour, the arts, and the celebrations surrounding proceedings. In short, the festival provides the ideal opportunity to explore and enjoy a cocktail, with sundrenched streets and an azure blue sea your vista.
For 5 years now, Chivas Regal 25 has been the official partner of the Festival de Cannes with its distinguished blend of flavours serving as the perfect companion to the history of the event. Originally launched in 1909, the 25 blend was the toast of high society in New York until its demise at the hands of prohibition in 1920.
In 2007, thanks to Chivas Master Blender Colin Scott, the legend was reborn in the form of a new interpretation of the original Chivas Regal 25.
With its rich history, Chivas made the ideal partner to the Cannes premier of The Great Gatsby, with Chivas Global Brand Ambassador Max Warner creating a variety of cocktails inspired by the film for its after-party. Aboard the Chivas yacht, docked metres away from the Grand Théâtre Lumière, Warner invited Ape to Gentleman’s Lifestyle Editor to mix up a Jay Gatsby cocktail.
Based on a Blood & Sand, itself a cocktail created for a film of the same name in 1922, the Gatsby updates the classic by using Lillet Rose and unfiltered apple juice to create a sophisticated accompaniment to any scenario.
Mix single measures of Chivas Regal 12 year, Lillet Rose, Cherry Heering, and unfiltered apple juice into a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously to blend. Pour into a tumbler over ice and garnish with orange peel. Sit back, sip, and think of decadent parties.
