Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler Review

Introduction

I covered the US launch of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler in March of this year and as of now, the latest invention from Gillette is available in the UK too. I’ve been testing the ProGlide Styler for a week and it has become a useful tool in my shaving and grooming armoury already. I keep a beard (essentially stubble) most of the time and occasionally wet shave. My main piece of kit when it comes to keeping my beard in shape is a Braun Cruzer Beard Trimmer, it’s great. If I shave, it’s of course the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor – no one can deny it provides the best shave. The ProGlide Styler for me fills a gap between the wet shave razor and a full on beard trimmer, it’s ideal for people who wet shave and need extra styling function to keep sideburns in check, and also for those who part wet shave but like to keep some facial hair, a goatee or moustache for example.

Crux

Touted as a 3-in-1 facial hair styling tool it trims evenly, shaves closely and edges accurately. You can slot a ProGlide blade on it and wet shave or take it off and edge your sideburns or facial hair and use it as a trimmer, again for sideburns and other facial hair.

The ProGlide Styler is Braun-engineered so it comes from good stock. The trimmer has three exchangeable combs which adapt to your contours and keep trimming length consistent. As mentioned, the head can be fitted with the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Blades if you choose to have a thorough wet shave. On the back of the cartridge you can find the Precision Edging Blade. It gives you the ability to make sharp, defined lines and finishing touches.

Conclusion

All Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler components come neatly packaged in a case, with Gillette’s Fusion ProGlide Clear Shave Gel – clear being the key word, it allows you to see where you’re styling.

We have made no secret of our love for the Fusion ProGlide Power Blades. The trimmer and edging blade are useful additions, making the ProGlide Styler an excellent all round styling tool.
